INTERVIEW: Dave Casey from Chilliwack SAR

Chilliwack SAR volunteers are committed individuals who are available at a moment’s notice to come to someone’s aid in potentially hazardous terrain and situations. In the past year their members were called out 85 times, one of the highest call-out counts in the team’s history, to search for lost persons or to rescue those who were injured or trapped and could not help themselves. They generally recruit for new members to join their team every two years, and their next intake is now. To learn more about the team, what they do and the what they’re looking for in potential candidates, attend their Info Session Saturday, January 25, 2020 at City Hall (8550 Young Road, Chilliwack). Meet a few of their team members, see some of the equipment they use on tasks, ask your questions and find out if this might be a fit for you! Doors open at 10:30am, with the presentation taking place from 11am to 12pm. Applications will be made available immediately following the Info Session. Please note, candidates must be 19 years of age or older to apply, live and/or work in Chilliwack, and be prepared to commit 300 hours a year (or more) to training, tasks and SAR activities.
