RCMP invite you to learn first-hand how alcohol impacts drivers

Chilliwack: The RCMP are employing goggles, pedals, and a driving course to educate folks to the effects of impairment.

The safe driving education event, hosted by the Upper Fraser Valley Regional Detachment (UFVRD), challenges participants of all ages to navigate a pedal cart while ‘under the influence’ of fatal vision goggles.

Where: Cultus Lake Go-cart-track.

When: Wednesday July 31, 2019

11 am – 2:30 pm

“We look forward to meeting you,” says Constable Tristan Williams of the UFVRD. “Experience the frightening effects of impairment to vision and decision making when skills while operating a vehicle.”

Impaired driving prevention remains a priority to the RCMP commitment of road safety in the community.

Tips from police to plan a safe trip:

  • Arrange for a designated driver with family and friends.
  • Plan ahead to take public transit or a taxi.
  • Stay sober yourself, and provide safe transportation for friends.
