Our SPCA Pet of the Week is Tom.

This little baby is a very special dog. Tom is very fearful of new people and has reacted badly to some SPCA staff members, however they know there is a home that is perfect for Tom. Tom is a shy 5 month old Chihuahua who weighs just under 6 pounds and still has some growing to do. Tom is very under socialized (had little to no human interaction in his previous situation) and will need a patient home that understands he will need time to build trust with his people. He needs a forever home that is just as special as he is.

Due to how fearful Tom can be, the Chilliwack SPCA recommends he go to a home with no one under the age of 16 and breed experience is absolutely ideal . Tom has come from a home with other dogs his size and bigger and wouldn’t mind having a canine companion in the home to help him come out of his shell. He is kennel trained but will need further training at home once he gets comfortable. Tom has never learned to walk on a leash, has never worn a collar or a harness and  would do best practicing in the house or in the backyard on a leash before trying to go out in public.

If you would like to meet Tom (maybe visit 2 or more times to interact and start building a relationship prior to adopting) please contact the Chilliwack SPCA at 604-823-6612.
