Highway 7 is currently (Aug 9 at 7:30am) open to single lane alternating traffic. Here’s the official word from DriveBC:

“Single lane alternating traffic between Seabird Bluffs and Johnson Slough rest area due to forest fire activity. Alternate route from Agassiz, take Hwy 9 to Hwy 1. Alternate route from Hope is Highway 1. Estimated time of opening 5 PM. Next update at 10 AM. Updated on Thu Aug 9 7:17 am PDT. (ID# RTMC_18108)”

 

Agassiz, British Columbia – Highway 7 between Agassiz and Hope has been closed due to a brush fire that broke out before noon today along Seabird Bluffs.

 

The public is asked to plan and detour accordingly as fire crews are continuing to battle the blaze along the eastern slope that is estimated to be anywhere between 5 to 10 acres in size.
