Sunday’s 2016 Black Entertainment Television Awards honoured the best in music, movies, television and sports.

The show opened up with a surprise performance of “Freedom” by Beyonce, joined by Kendrick Lamar.

The 2016 BET Awards also featured a tribute to Muhammad Ali.

In addition, “Grey’s Anatomy” star and Black Lives Matter activist Jesse Williams will receive the Humanitarian Award, and Samuel L. Jackson is this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award honoree.
