Jen MartelJen Martel is a dynamic community leader who understands Abbotsford’s priorities. Now she’s ready to fight for us in Ottawa and deliver the change we deserve.

For the past seven years, Jen has worked for the City of Abbotsford as a lifeguard and swimming instructor, and she teaches first aid and lifeguard courses throughout the Lower Mainland. She also coached with Abbotsford’s Special Olympics swim team for several years and previously chaired their fundraising committee.

Jen is passionate about serving her community. With a range of non-profit board experience, she knows what it takes to balance budgets and create sound policy. Jen competed internationally in Irish dance and was on the board directors for the Fraser Valley Irish Dance Association. She is also a vice president of her union local’s executive board.

With Tom Mulcair’s NDP team, Jennifer is ready to deliver results for Abbotsford families:

  • Improve services you rely on: better health care, stronger pensions, affordable childcare.
  • Keep family farms viable, starting by strengthening risk management tools.
  • Protect our lakes and rivers by strengthening environmental laws that Harper gutted.
  • Create good, middle-class jobs through hiring incentives for small businesses.

Jen earned her B.Sc. in biology from the University of the Fraser Valley and also holds certificates in French and communications. She was president of the UFV Biology and Chemistry Student Association and a member of the Student Union Society’s budget committee.

Jen was born and raised here in Abbotsford. As our next MP, she is determined to guide more young people to get involved in politics—to build a better Abbotsford and a better Canada.
