icbclogoWith the weather getting nicer and getting into prime motorcycle riding season, ICBC wants motorcyclists and other drivers to be extra careful on the roads.

A motorcyclist was killed in a crash on the weekend at the Prest road off ramp near Chilliwack, and although this was a single vehicle accident, ICBC road safety coordinator Don Miller says  other drivers should be aware and keep an extra eye out.

“Look carefully, they can be hard to see especially at dusk, at night, or in bad weather or in heavy traffic. Scan intersections and watch for motorcyclists especially when you’re turning left. The safest choice is to yield to an oncoming rider as it can be hard to tell how fast they’re travelling.”

Miller says riders need to be cautious as well, controlling their speed, and never assuming that other drivers have seen them.
