The province announced its 10 year transportation plan today

The $2.5 billion dollar plan will be used to maintain and replace infrastructure and support trade.

The Transportation Ministry says nearly 13,000 responses from a public survey suggest people want highways, roads, bridges and side roads kept in good condition.

Highway 1 between Langley and Abbotsford will be expanded to include three lanes in each direction.

Other improvements include upgrading rest areas to make them more accessible for people with limited mobility and creating bike lanes and trails through cost-sharing agreements with local communities.

The Stanley Park Causeway will also see a $7 million commitment toward improving pedestrian and cyclist safety on the route. This includes widening the pathways and installing safety fencing on both sides of the causeway.
