Nurses union renews call for hospital security after attack

The BC Nurses Union has long been calling on the province to do more to keep nurses safe in the hospitals.

Now they say a nurse at Abbotsford hospital was attacked over the weekend, suffering serious trauma and injury.

The BCNU wants health authorities to provide better security and training, prompt incident reporting and investigations, and adequate support for the nurses who are impacted by violence.

Union Vice President Christine Sorensen says the Abbotsford hospital is not adequately protecting nurses and staff are sometimes afraid to come to work.
