dollars-31085_640Chilliwack is considering a 1.49% property tax increase this year.
If it’s approved, it would be the smallest tax hike in this town in the last 10 years. The extra revenue this year would go towards an increase in the city’s police budget, the fire department, and to meet the cost of inflation.
While some other municipalities are going with zero tax increases this year, and in Abbotsford’s case, a proposed DECREASE, Chilliwack still has the lowest taxation in the entire lower mainland. Council will give first reading to the budget tomorrow and there will be a public hearing on March 17th.
