This morning Scott & I had a chance to speak with Holly. She helps Santa with all the letters he receives, especially in December…and offers some ideas for our letter writing efforts. If you or your kids missed it this morning…you can listen to it here.
I think it’s about time we had a story like this! @tipsforjesus is being generous and kind, just because. This is so much better than the receipts floating around without a tip and with a slam against others. There’s a mystery tipper out there, who’s been busy since September, if not longer. This person has left tips from $500 to $10,000…to a total of at least $54,000. The tipping has been happening all over too, from Michigan to LA and places in between. The question has been raised that it might be more than one person…and I say…Awesome! Do you think goodwill and generosity happens more than we know? Maybe only the negative gets shared all over? Let’s make this story “viral”!
is something new. In recent years there has been a movement to give back in the midst of the shopping frenzy of Black Friday and Cyber Monday. It doesn’t have to be cold hard cash to be a part of Giving Tuesday. Maybe sign up to ring bells for the Christmas Kettles, take a shift preparing and serving food at a shelter or anything else that resonates with you. Are you on board with the idea?
The Star 98.3 Kindness Crew is pleased to partner with the Murray Honda Coat Drive this month. Do you have an extra coat or a closet full of jackets that you don’t need and haven’t worn in a while? They’d be perfect for the Murray Honda Coat Drive! If you don’t have any items to donate but would like to help…you can make a cash donation to buy a new jacket for a youngster in the community. Unfortunately there is need for at least 600 coats for Chilliwack students this winter. The Chilliwack Bowls of Hope Society does a wonderful job providing daily meals and will be involved in distributing these jackets and coats. Look for the Star 98.3 Kindness crew in the Chilliwack Rotary Christmas Parade this weekend. If you have gently used coats to donate, please drop them off at Murray Honda. Murray Honda has set up a special website for the coat drive. You can find more information and/or make a paypal donation here:
It’s not every day…ok, never yet for me…that you get to do celebrity karaoke. How about this?!? Taylor Swift was one of the performers at a fundraiser at Kensington Palace. They were raising money for Centrepoint, a charity Princess Diana had supported, working to help homeless youth. At one point during the evening, Jon Bon Jovi was singing. I’m not sure if this was planned or just happened…but he was joined on stage by Taylor and the Prince aka Duke of Cambridge. There’s one for the scrapbook or family Christmas letter!!! I’ve added the video below so you can enjoy it too. Who would you want to sing with if you had a chance?
Meet Roxy. She is a shy and gentle girl, very sweet and loving. If you love the pitbull breed, Roxy might be a wonderful addition to your family. She was surrendered by an elderly couple who were unable to provide her with the exercise and attention she needs. If you’d like to meet/adopt Roxy, please contact the Chilliwack SPCA for an appointment. 604-823-6612.
Please, allow me to post the first Christmas song of 2013. I just watched the video and thought it was a fun version of one of my favourite Christmas songs. Really, you can’t go wrong when you include dogs, right? Enjoy!
She closed the American Music Awards show last night. We were wondering what she would do…and it was actually pretty tame…thankfully! I’ve got to say though….I don’t really get the big video screen starring a huge lip-synching kitten. In case you missed it…here’s Miley’s performance from last night.
