Sardis Kiwanis is proud sponsor Operation Red Nose again this year serving Sardis and Chilliwack and Volunteers are now needed!

ORN is a designated driver service that will be operating for 11 nights in December, 2017 out of the Community Policing Office on Wellington Street. The nights of service will be Nov 24 & 25, Dec 1, 2, 8, 9,15,16, 22, 23 and 31. Phone lines (604-393-3000) will be open from 9pm to 3am on the nights of service. The service is confidential: it is provided by volunteers and is offered by donation to any person operating a vehicle who does not feel fit to drive for any reason.

Operation Red Nose is an educational campaign and a free service for you, your co-workers, friends and family which provides a safe alternative to drinking and driving. The service is provided free of charge, however, donations are very much appreciated and gratefully received.  Operation Red Nose is a confidential service, and is available to any person operating a motor vehicle who does not wish to drive their car for any reason. A person does not have to be drinking to use this service. However, Operation Red Nose is NOT a taxi service. It is only available to people AND their vehicles to the destination of their choice within each service area.

How can you help?

300 + volunteers were able to get over 1,500 people home safely from late November through New Year’s Eve night. Operation Red Nose could not happen without our dedicated volunteers and the numbers indicate that there is a need for this service in our community. The larger numbers of Red Nose volunteers means that we can ensure we get even more of our neighbours home this year.

If you are interested in volunteering this campaign, please send a private message through their facebook page. Volunteer applications are now available, and can be found along with Police Information Check Form (formerly Criminal Record Check Form) can be found on the Operation Red Nose website. Please submit the application as soon as possible, as it takes time for the paperwork to be processed.

We are looking forward to another wonderful ORN season! Stay tuned for more updates!

Operation Red Nose is a seasonal designated driver program which was founded in 1984 in Quebec City.

Operation Red Nose has served Chilliwack and its surrounding communities since 2004, and was hosted by Chilliwack Restorative Justice from 2004 to 2011. As of 2012, the Kiwanis Club of Sardis has assumed responsibility of this valuable program, and it coordinates this service as a major fundraiser. All funds raised stay in Chilliwack, helping youth programs through the Kiwanis Club of Sardis. This program is possible through our community partnerships with the Chilliwack RCMP and the City of Chilliwack, and provincial sponsor ICBC, as well as numerous local sponsors and donors.
