Our beautiful community is about to come together to support local children in need with the launch of Murray Honda’s 2016 “We Got Your Back” and “Project Warmth” Programs! The program has supplied over 1000 children in our community with brand new winter coats, boots and backpacks with one year of school supplies exceeding over $250,000.00 in past three years of these initiatives.

Thank you to this year’s platinum sponsors:

Chances Chilliwack, CarStar Chilliwack, Glamour Secrets Beauty Bar – Eagle Landing, Studio B Yoga – Garrison and the Coast Chilliwack Hotel.

Background information:
In the bitterly cold winter of 2012/2013 Murray Honda launched their first community program after reaching out to the Chilliwack Bowls of Hope Society to find out how many local children were showing up to school in non-adequate winter coats. After discovering roughly 400 kids were in need of proper winter attire, they connected with like-minded businesses throughout Chilliwack to fully fund the first year program and make sure no child was left cold in the winter.

Project Warmth Winter Program
Following the “We Got Your Back” Backpack Program, we have continued to work with the Chilliwack School District to identify and support other needs for local children. For our “Project Warmth” Winter Program we worked with the General Manager of our local Canadian Tire to provide over 700 Chilliwack students with proper winter footwear.  We can’t thank John and his team enough for reaching out to every single Canadian Tire location in British Columbia to assist in fulfilling this order in full.

With our previous programs we have raised a retail value of up to $200,000 worth of goods to our community in a 3 year span! This is no small task and we could not have been able to fund these programs without the dedicated support of our sponsors, many of whom sign on for each program we start.

Since Murray Honda’s arrival to the Chilliwack community in 2012, we have been incredibly empowered by the generosity and support of our city. Together we are making a better tomorrow for our future generation and we thank you all for your part in making this happen.

After the success of that program, they felt great and wanted to make an even bigger impact for local children.  They connected with the Chilliwack School District to find out if there were any other needs that were being left underfunded and learned the need for school supplies was extremely high. Upon further investigation they found the need was as high as 1,000 local students, with a staggering funding goal of over $40,000.00 to ensure that no child was left behind.

Their first call was to Shelley Howe, the General Manager at Staples Business Depot in Chilliwack who shared the goal of making sure that no child was missed. She ensured her entire team was on board with helping us reach the targeted goal, and Staples Chilliwack quickly became our official co-sponsor of the “We Got Your Back” Backpack Program.
