Alzeimers Society of BC -Family Caregiver Workshop

March 4-18 (3 Saturdays) from 9:30-12:30 pm there will be a free education series for family members who are caring for a person with dementia at Garden Park Tower – 2825 Clearbrook Rd Abbotsford, put on by the Alzheimer Society of B.C. The workshop will be providing strategies for taking care of someone with dementia, as well as taking care of your own health to ensure you are prepared to continue providing care for family members. It offers practical techniques and strategies that caregivers can begin using immediately.

The Family Caregiver Workshop covers the following topics:

• Understanding Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias
• Effective and creative ways of facilitating communication with a person with dementia
• Problem solving for responsive behaviours
• Personal planning and navigating the health care system
• Self-care for Caregivers
