Terry Fox 30th Anniversary

Sept 18th/Sept 19th

2010 marks the 30th Anniversary of the Terry Fox Marathon of Hope. On Saturday, September 18th Chilliwack Ford will auction off 6 used cars with proceeds to the Terry Fox Foundation.  Everyone is invited to attend from 11am-2pm.  There will be a BBQ, face painting, balloons, head shave and entertainment from Images Dance Studio and Pardon My Striptease.  Then on Sunday, September 19th help celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Terry Fox Run by getting involved in a run in your area!

Well Seasoned BBQ On the Bypass

The 5th annual Well Seasoned BBQ on the ByPass is BC's HOTTEST BBQ competition! This FREE public event will be held on Sunday, September 19th from 10am-5pm at 20771 Langley Bypass. From September 20th to October 8th come and spend 5 minutes of your time on any machine at Anytime Fitness in Chilliwack and they'll donate $5 to the Fraser Valley Health Care Foundation in support of Chilliwack General Hospital.  The kick off event will be on September 20th from 1-3PM. Hospital staff will be on hand to workout and come and enjoy a healthy BBQ courtesy of Anytime Fitness. 

Chilliwack Arts & Cultural Centre Society presents Star 98.3's Children's Series featuring:  The Trollsons (Sept 19th at 2 & 4pm), Cinderella (Oct 17th at 2 & 4pm), Pinocchio (March 6th at 2 & 4pm) and Rumpelstiltskin (May 1st at 2 & 4pm).  All tickets are $10 and are available at the Chilliwack Cultural Centre box office or here.

Abbotsford Business Excellence Awards

The Abbotsford Business Excellence Awards are still quite a few months away but they have undergone some changes and improvements for 2010!  There will now be year round nominations, the award categories have been changed to more accurately reflect the economic makeup of Abbotsford, two new categories have been added and the category descriptors have been expanded.  Download all the info & nomination form.

Heritage Park Secondary Fantastic Fall Fling

Heritage Park Secondary PAC invites all parents & students to Fantastic Fall Fling 2010! There will be games, food, prizes, entertainment, auction items and more! Like so many schools, Heritage Park is faced with many challenges due to cut-backs to the school system so they are hoping to generate funds from the fall fling, that can be used in the 2010/2011 school year.  If you or your business can contribute to the auction, please contact Kathleen at 604.826.8295.

Mark your calendar for Fraser Valley Down Syndrome Society's 4th Annual Buddy Walk on Saturday Sept 25th from 10:00am-2:00pm at Mill Lake, Abbotsford (Bevan Ave. picnic shelter).  Come and have a good time with friends and family! The Buddy Walk promotes awareness and inclusion for people with Down Syndrome and raises money both locally and nationally.  Register before Sept. 18th and be entered for the Most Buddies prize!

CIBC Run for the Cure

On Sunday, October 3rd, the CIBC Run for the Cure takes place at Rotary Stadium in Abbotsford. The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure is Canada's largest single day, volunteer-led fundraising event dedicated to raising funds for breast cancer research, and education and awareness programs.

Auguston Traditional Elementary School presents Canada's Most Loved Children's Author Robert Munsch at the Abbey Arts Centre for 2 shows on October 16th.  Show times are 1:30pm & 3:30pm.  Tickets are $20 each with book sales and signing to follow each show with profits going to Auguston Traditional's PAC to raise money for a playgound expansion.
