If you’re looking into donating to the Haiti Relief – why not give $30 to feed a child for a month – which can be quickly turned into feeding a child for 4 months.  The Food for Famine Society has a Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food for malnourished children.  CIBO (Italian for “food” and pronounced "chi-bo") is made from peanut paste, powdered milk, whey powder, sugar, oil, and 22 vitamins and minerals. 

Bowling "FUN" Raiser

The Chilliwack & District Seniors' Resource Society invites the community, friends, family and neighbours to their newest fundraiser at Chilibowl Lanes on Friday, March 5th from 6-9pm for a Bowling "FUN" raiser.  There will be a silent auction, 50/50 draw, pizza & beverages.  Cost is $20 per person or $120 per team.  There will be 12 teams of 6.  Please sign up and join in on the fun!  Entry deadline is Monday, Feb. 15th.  Please sign up at the Senior Resources office at 92921 Courbould Street or call 604-793-9979.

Free Mammogram Screening

Feb 8-13

The mobile screening service will be travelling to Chilliwack to reduce long wait times at fixed centres.  February 8th to 13th at Twin Rinks.  About 500 appointments will be up for grabs.  The average wait turn is about 8 weeks and in Chilliwack it's about 9.5 weeks, so getting one of these 500 appointments could help immensely. It is suggested that women 50-69 years old have a regular screening mamogram every two years, however the screening mammograms are offered to BC Women aged 40-79. Chilliwack Girl Guides Celebrate Thinking Day

Saturday, Feb. 20th

Celebrating 100 years of girl greatness!  The Chilliwack District Girl Guides will be celebrating THINKING DAY on February 20th at the United Church on Yale Road, Chilliwack.  The theme is "Eraticating Hunger & Poverty."  They will be doing crafts, research and learning about how things are done in other countires.  They will also be raising money for Haiti and having a parade where they will be collecting food for the food bank.

The Fort Langley Winter Historic Half Marathon is BC's Half Marathon!  This winter half marathon starts and finishes in BC's birth town, Fort Langley British Columbia. This half marathon route is amazing and has more to offer than you can imagine! Starting from the Fort Langley's National Historic Site of Canada you will travel the beautiful rural streets of Fort Langley past majestic views of mountains and into the grounds

Harmony with Haiti

The Abbotsford Recreation Centre (ARC) was chosen as our local Fraser Valley Olympic LiveSite. The LiveSite program is meant to help residents share in the spirit of the 2010 games. The ARC will be transformed into an Olympic/Paraolympic theatre and gallery. The Live Sites program was created to help residents share in the Spirit of 2010 as well as to help B.C. communities, in all regions of the Province, find a way to develop a lasting legacy from the 2010 Winter Games.

Join us in 2010 for BBBS' largest fundraiser.  This year's theme will be HEROES & VILLAINS! Start putting together your costumes and teams of 4-6 who will secure a minimum of $50 in pledges, and play two exciting games of bowling at Chillibowl Lanes in Chilliwack March 12th to 31st, 2010 and at the FraserBowl and Raquet Club in Hope March 5th, 2010.
