MarkStrahlChilliwack-Fraser Canyon MP Mark Strahl says he’s not concerned about polls showing a drop in Conservative support in BC, saying the last few years have shown you can’t always believe polls.

Strahl says having said that the party won’t assume anything in the campaign.

“You know we always run in Chilliwack and Hope as Conservatives as though we’re two votes behind. We work hard, we take nothing for granted and that won’t change this time around no matter what the polls say.”

Strahl says he’ll keep focusing on issues important to the people in the riding, like lowering taxes and being tough on crime.

As for the campaign trail, Strahl says he’ll have to see what his schedule allows when it comes to attending all candidate forums.

Last election he was absent from a number of forums and he says it was because of his campaign travels.

“Last time we were campaigning in a riding that was 30, 000 square kilometers in size so there were times where we were for instance in Pemberton when there was a debate in Hope, or all over this great riding we were campaigning in every corner of it. Our schedule isn’t set yet but we will certainly get our message out and that will include all candidates debates.”

Strahl says having the riding reduced to just Chilliwack and Hope should make campaigning a bit easier.
