Sardis Secondary is holding a groundbreaking this Thursday for its new school farm, an extension of the school’s agriculture program.

Agriculture teacher Tania Toth says they’ll be planting a garden with some crops as the first phase of the farm.

“We’re going to have a variety of food items that we grow with that garden, and we’re going to sell to members of the community and to members of our school staff. As well as our students will be taking that food home, and our school cafeteria will be cooking with some of that food.”

Toth says the next phase will be a partnership with UFV on some berry crops for research.
